In 1925 kruiste de Nederlander Leendert Saarloos een wolvin( Fleur I) met een Duitse herderreu. Hij wilde een natuurlijk ras verkrijgen zonder degeneratie verschijnselen.

En 1925, Leendert Saarloos, un Hollandais croisa la louve Fleur I avec un Berger Allemand. Il voulait créer une race naturelle sans dégénérations.

In 1925, Leendert Saarloos(Holland) crossed a female wolf ( Fleur I) and a German shepherd male. His goal was to get a natural breed without the degeneration he saw in other breeds.

In 1962 kruiste hij een 2de wolvin in( Fleur II), alhoewel er nu wordt aangenomen dat er 4 tot 6 wolvinnen gebruikt zijn om het ras tot stand te brengen. In 1969 overleed Leendert Saarloos, in 1981 werd zijn ras erkend door de FCI, en verkreeg uit erkentelijkheid zijn naam.

En 1962 il a croisé une autre louve (Fleur II), mais aujourd’hui on pense qu’il aura fallu 4 ou 6 louves pour obtenir la race. En 1969 Leendert Saarloos décéda. Sa race fut reconnue par le FCI en 1981, et elle reçu son nom.

De teven zijn 60cm tot 70 cm, de reuen 65cm tot 75cm. Er zijn 3 kleuren, wolfsgrauw, bosbruin en wit. De meeste teven staan zoals de wolf 1x per jaar loops, de 1ste keer op hun 2 jaar. Het gehele ras komt voort uit een zeer nauwe fokbasis. Mede daar de populatie klein is, is het moeilijk een goede en gezonde fokbasis te behouden.

Les femelles mesure environ 60cm à 70cm au garrot et les mâles 65cm a 75cm au garrot. Il y a 3 couleurs, Gris, brun et blanc.
Comme les louves, les femelles sont en chaleur 1 fois par an, la 1ére fois vers l’âge de 2 ans. La base pour élever est très serrée, parce que la population est faible. Il est donc difficile d’obtenir une population en bonne santé.

The females meager about 60 to 70 cm, the males 65 to 75 cm. There are 3 colors recognized: wolf gray, brown and white. Most females are in heat 1x a year, like the wolf and the first time at the age of 2 years. The Saarloos has a very narrow population, and it’s very hard to keep a good and healthy population.

De Saarloos reageert alert en voorzichtig t.a.v. hem vreemde personen en omgevingen. Ze hebben net zoals de meeste wolfhonden een zeer goede socialisatie nodig . Wat bij deze honden uitspringt is de liefde en aanhankelijkheid naar hun gezin toe. Ze zijn bijna allen zeer kalme dieren, op oudere leeftijd naar het luie toe.

Le chien loup de Saarloos est assez prudent face à des personnes et des situations inconnues. Comme presque tout les chien loups ils ont besoin d’une bonne socialisation. Le plus exceptionnel est l’amour et le dévouement pour leur famille.

The Saarloos reacts very alert and cautious towards strange persons and environments. Like most wolf dogs they need a good socialization. The most wonderful part of this breed is the love and attachment they give to there family. They are almost all very calm dogs, even lazy when they get older.

Ze zijn geschikt om mee te werken, maar alleen als dit zonder druk gebeurt en enkel voor de leut. Ze zijn bevelen vlug beu en doen alleen graag iets als het hen goed uitkomt. Sommigen van hen gaan door het vuur voor voedsel, andere bekijken het nog niet eens.

On peut travailler avec eux, mais seulement sans pression et seulement pour s’amuser. Il s’ennuie très vite et veut souvent faire des choses qui sont intéressant pour lui-même. Il y en a qui ferrai tous pour obtenir de la nourriture, et d’autre que sa n’intéresse pas du tout.

One can work with them, but only without any form of pressure and only for fun. They get bored real quick, and only like to obey when it’s interesting for themselves. Some of them will die for food, others don’t bother.

De ene Saarloos wolfhond is op jonge leeftijd echt hopeloos in het stelen en vernielen, anderen geven totaal geen problemen. Hou er rekening mee dat het tot 4 jaar kan duren voordat je een stabiele hond hebt. Wie een gezellige en vooral aanhankelijke wolfhond voor het gezin wil zal aan dit ras veel plezier beleven.

Certains sont très difficile quand ils sont jeunes (ils détruisent et vole), d’autres ne donne aucun problème. En vieillissant ils deviennent de plus en plus calme voir même fainéant. Il faut Compter 4 ans pour obtenir un chien bien balancer. Pour ceux qui veulent un chien très affectueux, le chien loup de Saarloos est parfait.

Some of them are a disaster when they are young, stealing and destroying everything they can get a hold on, others are very well behaved from puppy. Keep in mind that it can take up to 4 years to obtain a stable dog. Those who want to have a very attached and gregarious dog will have a lot of fun with a Saarloos wolf dog. .
