De Indian dog bestond al lang voordat America door Columbus ontdekt werd( er zijn bewijzen gevonden dat deze dieren al 30000jaar geleden bij de Indianen leefden).
Déjà longtemps avant que Christophe Colomb ne découvre l’Amérique, il y avait des chiens Indiens. (Il existe des preuves montrant que ces chiens vivat chez les Indiens pendant 30000 ans).
The Indian dog already existed long before America was discovered by Christopher Columbus( proof is found that these dogs already lived with the Indian people for about 30000 year).
De Indian dog werd vaak gekruist met de coyote voor het instinct, roedelgedrag en hoge intelligentie.
Le chien Indien était souvent croisé avec le coyote pour obtenir son instinct, sa conduite de meute et son intelligence exceptionnel.
The Indian dog was crossed regular with coyote to get it’s instinct, pack behavior and the high intelligence into the breed.
Er zijn 3 soorten,: het Noordelijke type: een groter wolfachtig type, veel gebruikt als pakdier en een kleiner type, gebruikt voor de jacht.
Le type du Nord : au physique plus grand comme le loup, utiliser comme bête de somme (pour porter), et un type plus petit, pour la chasse.
There are 3 types: the North type: a lager wolf like type, used as pack animal and a smaller one used for hunting.
Het Zuidelijke type: coyoteachtig: pak en trek dier, herder, waakhond en babysitter. En dan een combinatie van het noordelijke en zuidelijke type: het Plaintype.
Le type du Sud : plus type coyote : utiliser comme bête de somme, de garde, de berger et baby-sitter. Et la combinaison des 2 types, le nord et le Sud : le Plaintype.
The Southern
type: coyote looking: used as pack animal and draught-dog , shepherd, guardian
and baby-sit. And at last a combination of the south and North type: The plain-type.
De indian dogs werden gefokt op Intelligentie , sterkte, gezondheid en snelheid. Deze honden werden samen met de Indianen bijna totaal uitgeroeid.
Les Chiens Indien était élevé pour son intelligence, sa force, sa santé et sa rapidité. Ces Chiens on été presque totalement éliminé avec les Indiens.
The Indian dog was bred for it’s intelligence, strength, health and speed. This breed was almost totally exterminated along with the Indian people.
Kim La Flamme zet zich al 40 jaar in om de Indian dog te redden van het uitsterven. Hij zette een selectief en langdurig fokprogramma op touw met overgebleven honden die hij vond in Indianen reservaten en in het wild.
Kim La Flamme essaya de sauver la race pendent 40 ans. Il a fait un programme d’élevage avec des Chiens qu’il a trouvé dans des réserves et dans la nature.
Kim La Flamme has made an effort to save these dogs from extinction. He created a long-range and very selective breeding program with Indian dogs he has found in the reservations and in the wilderness.
De American Indian dog is intelligent, trouw, instinctief en kan terughoudend zijn voor hem vreemde personen. De Indian Dog gaat goed met andere dieren om en is gek op kinderen. De American Indian Dog hecht zich sterk aan een persoon of 1 familie en kan daardoor zeer moeilijk herplaatst worden,
Le chien Indien est intelligent, fidèle, instinctif et parfois réservé avec des gens inconnu. Ils sont bien avec les autres animaux et adorent les enfants. Le Chien Indien es très attacher a son maître et sa famille, ce qui pose des problèmes quand il doit y changer.
The Indian dog is intelligent, loyal , instinctive and can be shy to strange persons . The Indian dog is good with other animals and he adores children. He is very attached towards one person or towards his family. Therefore it’s very difficult to replace these dogs.
Er kan met deze hond gewerkt worden zoals: flyball, behendigheid, sledesport e.a…De Indian Dog zal snel leren als je het maar met geduld doet.
On peu travailler avec ces chiens (fly-ball, obéissance,traîneau etc.…). Ils apprennent vite, mais la patience est de rigueur.
One can work with these dogs, like fly ball, obedience , sledge sport a.s. The Indian dog is a quick learner, but one has to have patience.
Omdat er nog steeds gefokt word op karakter, gezondheid en natuurlijke uitstraling bestaat er een enorme verscheidenheid van vachtkleuren ,alle natuurlijke kleuren kunnen voorkomen Hoogte; Reuen ; 60 t/m 68 cm Teven ; 55 t/m 63 cm
Parce que les élevages s’occupent particulièrement du caractère, de la santé et du look naturel, il peut-être de différentes couleurs (toutes les couleurs naturelles). Hauteur, les mâles mesure au garrot entre 60/68cm, les femelles entre 55/63cm.
Because the breeding still is focused on the character , health and natural look, there’s a whole range of colors, one can have all natural colors. Height: Males: 60 to 68cm, females: 55 to 63cm.
